The usual starting point

Why begin with
an assessment?

Know where to start, and what is worth changing.

Before committing to tools, training, or implementation, understand where work gets stuck and what would actually help.

An assessment gives you a prioritized roadmap: what to simplify, where your team needs support, where AI could add value, and what should remain human-led.

A decision, not a default tool

For one fashion communications agency, the strongest starting point was practical workshops and internal expertise, rather than starting with automation.

The decisions behind the work

Selected work

Client work and systems built inside Laura’s own businesses are identified separately. Applications are shaped around each business, not a standard template.

Client work / Fashion communications agency

The assessment showed why the team needed to come first.

Assessment and resources delivered.
Workshops and internal capability-building recommended.

What the assessment revealed

An office-wide assessment identified opportunities for AI across the agency’s everyday work. Many could be addressed through better prompting and a clearer understanding of what AI could do.

The strongest starting point was helping staff recognize those opportunities and develop the confidence to act on them. Introducing additional tools and processes before that foundation was in place risked adding complexity without meaningful adoption.

Why LB Consulting recommended workshops first

LB Consulting recommended practical workshops built around the agency’s actual responsibilities, giving staff a way to explore AI through work they already understood.

The proposed workshops would teach people to create and adapt their own prompts and workflows, question the results, and recognize where their professional judgment remained essential. The aim was to make staff active participants in shaping how AI could support their work.

The recommendation also included identifying internal champions: team members who could develop deeper expertise and become trusted resources for colleagues.

This would give the agency a stronger foundation for deciding which tools and systems to introduce next, with the people using them involved from the beginning.

Resources built around the agency’s work

Alongside the assessment, LB Consulting delivered a company-specific AI guide and a customized prompt/skill library tailored to the agency’s workflows.

The library combined role-specific examples with everyday prompts and skills relevant across the office. Staff could use the examples, reverse-engineer how they worked, and adapt them to their own responsibilities.

Once personalized, those prompts and skills provide the foundation for developing individual AI employees: reusable AI support configured around each staff member’s specific role and recurring work.

The aim is for staff to build support they understand and can continue to refine as their work changes.

The assessment gave the agency a clear order of priorities: build capability within the team, then use that foundation to guide further implementation.

Client work / Wellness practitioner

Less time preparing follow-up. More time for clients.

Connected resource retrieval and automated follow-up.
Ten minutes of deliberate human review per client.

Client follow-up previously required 30 minutes of manual searching and writing after each session.

A connected workflow now draws on the practitioner’s voice and an organized library of videos, routines, and educational resources to retrieve relevant material and automate personalized follow-up emails.

The remaining 10 minutes per client is a deliberate human review to check that the communication and resources are right. Automation handles the recurring work. The practitioner retains the judgment.

The same resource library provides a foundation for a future subscription offering, extending how clients could access the practitioner’s expertise beyond individual sessions.

Built inside my own businesses

Working systems.
Not just recommendations.

These are Laura’s own applications. They show what connected systems can look like without presenting them as client results.

01 / Own business

More room to lead.

AI chief-of-staff support

30 minutes → 5 minutes

Morning inbox review.

Before
Thirty minutes searching for important emails among routine messages and junk.
Now
A five-minute review, with priorities surfaced and inbox noise already moved aside. Straight to what needs your attention.
Explore the work

Start your day knowing what deserves your attention, with priorities, commitments, and follow-ups already in view. Less time managing the noise. More attention for the decisions and relationships that move your business forward.

I built AI chief-of-staff support around my own responsibilities, with scheduled daily and weekly reviews of incoming email, priorities, tasks, and follow-ups.

Each morning, I receive a report of what needs my attention, with inbox noise already moved out of the way. Commitments and outstanding follow-ups stay visible, rather than scattered across messages.

The system organizes what needs consideration. I decide what matters and what happens next.

02 / Own business

Your vision, ready to move.

Knowledge, brand & content systems

1 week → 2 hours

My hands-on working time to reach a final pitch-deck draft.

The system supports research, structure, writing, and assembly. I provide the background, direct the work, refine the ideas, and review the final result.

Explore the work

Bring your next pitch, launch, or offering to life without starting from scratch. Keep your brand consistent and your standards intact, with more time to shape the idea and pursue the opportunity.

I organized my business knowledge, brand voice, and reusable design assets into a foundation I can draw on for pitch decks, new-business materials, lead magnets, and course content.

For my own pitch-deck workflow, work that previously took one week now takes two hours of my hands-on time to reach a final draft.

03 / Own business

Make more of every introduction.

Event leads & automated follow-up

Keep potential new business, and the revenue it could bring, from slipping away.

Before
Every promising connection depended on me to keep the follow-up moving.
Now
Automated follow-up keeps new connections engaged, giving those introductions more opportunity to become clients, partnerships, and sales, without managing every message myself.
Explore the work

Keep new connections warm after an event, without managing every follow-up yourself. More time for the relationships that could become your next client, partnership, or opportunity.

For my own wellness business, I connected event lead capture, a custom lead database, and automated email follow-up. Lead funnels connect into that same follow-up process.

Without consistent follow-up, a promising introduction can become a missed client, partnership, or sale. The system keeps new connections engaged beyond the first meeting, without relying on me to manage every follow-up individually.

That continuity protects opportunities for new business and revenue, while leaving the personal relationship with me.

These examples describe specific workflows and Laura’s reported experience. They are not a guarantee of results for every business.

What guides the decisions

Our approach

Better processes first. AI where it adds value. Human judgment throughout.

Fix the work.
Then accelerate it.

Start with how the work actually gets done. Keep what works, simplify what gets in the way, and use AI where it adds value.

  • 01 / Independent

    The problem chooses the platform.

Recommendations are platform-agnostic, guided by your business needs and the tools you already use. Sometimes the better answer is a simpler process.

  • 02 / Proven

    Pilot before you scale.

Test a focused opportunity. Learn what works, then decide what earns a wider investment.

  • 03 / Human

    Judgment stays with your team.

Build review, ownership, and adoption into the system. Technology supports expertise. It does not replace it.

The running order

For end-to-end projects. Workshops, assessments, and advisory can also stand alone.

  1. Understand the work

    People, priorities, real conditions.

  2. Improve the process

Clarify ownership, simplify steps, and keep what works.

  3. Test the change

A focused pilot, with clear measures of success.

  4. Make it part of everyday work

Train the team, support adoption, and refine.

Experience from the inside. Strategy built for action.

Frequently asked questions

Who does LB Consulting work with?

Fashion and wellness businesses. In fashion: brands, PR and marketing agencies, producers, creative studios, casting agencies, and model and talent agencies. In wellness: brands, coaches, practitioners, studios, retreat businesses, and wellness-focused hospitality.

Do I need to be technical to work with you?

No. You don’t need to be technical. You need someone who speaks your business. Laura translates how your team already works into processes and tools that fit.

How do we get started?

With a complimentary 30-minute call with Laura. We talk through your business, what you’d like to improve, and find the best starting point together. For some teams that’s an assessment, for others it’s a workshop or one focused project. You don’t need to choose a service beforehand.

Do you always recommend AI?

No. The approach is better processes first and AI only where it adds value. Sometimes the better answer is a simpler process.

Which AI tools do you work with?

Whichever tools fit your business. Recommendations are platform-agnostic and span AI assistants, automation and workflow platforms, and the AI features already built into the software your team uses. The problem chooses the platform, not the other way around, and sometimes the best answer is a simpler process with no new tool at all.

Can you train my team to use AI?

Yes. Workshops are built around your team’s actual responsibilities, from preparing briefs and client updates to organizing information, so people learn to use AI thoughtfully, check its output, and know when their own expertise is the better answer.

What’s the difference between an AI assessment and AI training?

An assessment looks at how work gets done across your business and gives you a prioritized roadmap. Training builds your team’s skills and confidence to use AI in their own roles. Many businesses start with one and add the other.

Will AI replace my team or our creative judgment?

No. Every engagement is designed to support your team’s expertise, not replace it. Human review and ownership are built into each system, so the judgment, relationships, and standards that make your business distinct stay with your team.

Do you work with small businesses and independent practitioners?

Yes, within fashion and wellness. That includes independent creatives, coaches, and practitioners as well as agencies, brands, and studios.

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

Every engagement is shaped around your business, so scope, timing, and investment are discussed after the complimentary call, once we know what you actually need.

Do you work with businesses outside New York?

Yes. Laura works with clients remotely, worldwide.

Who will I work with?

Laura Birbrower personally leads every engagement.

Do you still do fashion show and event production?

Yes. Production strategy and consulting for shows, events, and brand experiences is available by direct inquiry: laura@lbconsultingny.com.
